"So sorry to hear this news, Wees. Your mom was always dear to me--I knew so few working moms growing up, and she was such a role model--smart, funny, tough and sophisticated. I always smile when I think of her working on her bed with Fosdick on her feet at the 78th street house. And how she always had the coolest tea selection, and had actually met authors I admired, and had read absolutely everything. I know she could be difficult for you and your siblings, but my memories of her are all mutual love and delight. I am so grateful to have met her and will hold her memory in my heart."
